A dementia friendly environment.

From the moment you enter St Catherine’s, the entire space and individual aspects have been specifically designed and every part of the journey has been considered, and always with dementia care at the heart of all the decision making.

Wayfinding and signposting can be crucial to some clients, so across the whole home colour-blocking and signalling techniques will guide and navigate clients and visitors with reassuring ease. We have also invested heavily in a full state of the art Circadian lighting system designed to stimulate and support natural circadian rhythms. The system can regulate better sleep patterns and has been scientifically proven to support appetite, metabolism, mood and engagement, overall reducing the feelings of depression.

Ultimately, St Catherine’s offers a heady mix of both form and function, bringing cutting edge research and technology to the fore in an environment which provides a safe haven whilst promoting a sense of independence, engagement and connectivity.

Cutting edge.

In the research and development phase of delivering St Catherine’s, we worked closely with pioneers in the field of dementia, including a world renowned dementia team from the University of Sterling, to make sure that every single aspect of the environment was dementia friendly.

Connection.

Here at St Catherine’s we understand more than most, the importance of connection for those living with dementia. All of our spaces have been designed with this in mind, fostering a real sense of community and promoting connection with ourselves, others and the environment.

Sensory experience.

Stimulating sensory experiences can delivery huge benefits to those living with dementia. Our purpose built high tech sensory room, sensory gardens and interactive market square, all deliver significant responses and improvements to our residents’ moods and wellbeing.
